Tissue Culture of Bali Local Banana

Bali is an area with a very high demand for fruits to meet the needs of hotels, restaurants and also for religious ceremonies. Until now the fulfillment of fruit needs, especially bananas are still brought from Java. This shows that the banana commodity is not available continuously so it needs to get our attention. An intensive banana planting business requires banana seedling in large quantities. Meanwhile, conventional vegetative propagation of bananas carried out by farmers only produces a very limited number of seedlings (tillers). This has become one of the causes of the banana commodity not being intensively cultivated. Propagation of seedlings with tissue culture technology is one solution in dealing with these seedling problems. Through tissue culture technology, healthy seedlings can be produced in large quantities and in a relatively short time. The new individual progenies that are produced are genetically the same as the parent.
