Abstrak

This study aims to determine income, identify sources and mitigate income risk, and analyze the level of income risk in red chili farming. The analytical tool used is farm analysis to determine the income of red chilli farming; coefficient variation to measure revenue risk, and to identify sources and mitigate risk of red chili income done qualitatively descriptive. The research location was deliberately chosen, namely in Subak Iseh, Sidemen District, Karangasem Regency, Bali Province.

This research is in the form of exploratory research using survey methods and RRAS, where the main object is red chili farmers. This research uses secondary data and primary data. Respondents were taken by simple random sampling, namely farmers in the rainy season and the dry season each of 30 people. The informants used were pekaseh, PPL, and academics.

The results showed that (1) net income of red chilli farming in the rainy season was Rp 42,793,576.79 per hertar and Rp 46,541,506.17 per hectare in the dry season; (2) Risk of red chili revenue originating from competitors, the physical environment and the operational environment. The types of risks found in Subak Iseh include prices; weather and climate conditions; pest and disease attacks; weed; and farming techniques are not optimal; (3) The level of risk of red chili income in the rainy season (3.19) is higher than in the dry season (2.89); and (4) Mitigation of income risk including (a) regulating planting area; (b) set the pattern and time of planting; (c) selecting seeds that are resistant to disease pests; (d) improve cultivation techniques; (e) maintaining environmental health; (f) pest control; (g) harvest according to the level of fruit maturity; (h) farmers tend to use income from other sources and borrow from their families if their businesses lose.

Suggestions in this study are (1) further research needs to be done related to the factors that affect revenue risk; (2) relevant agencies need to assist farmers in terms of: (a) planning of planting red chili in a wider area; (b) liaising between farmers and companies using red chili raw materials to partner with farmers.
