Development of Natural Language Processing Tools in Python for Balinese Documents

Natural language processing (NLP) is used to determine language understanding and production theory in detail so that one can write computer programs that can understand and produce natural language. NLP related research in Balinese, has not been conducted extensively. Nevertheless, the use of natural language processing techniques such as stemmer, part-of-speech tagger, named entity recognition in Balinese is absolutely essential to be developed to ensure the preservation of the Balinese language itself. In this study, a natural language processing library is proposed for Balinese language. This library is specifically developed for the Python programming language. The main purpose of this research is to produce a natural language processing tool for Balinese that can be used easily in Python. In addition, the general objective of this research is to preserve Balinese culture, especially the Balinese language, by applying the concept of natural language processing.
