Abstrak
The condition of the elderly in rural areas of Bali Province is mostly still working and the minimum number of elderly people who have social security, indicates that the condition of the elderly really needs serious attention. Recommendations regarding the formulation and direction of development policies that prioritize improving the welfare of the elderly population are very important to be followed up by policy makers.
This second year research is aimed at the health status, social security, and employment status of the elderly in urban areas of Bali Province, with the aim of: broadly knowing the socio-economic background of the elderly; know the model of health status, model of social security status, model of employment status and the factors that influence it; and knowing the model of health status, social security and employment status of the elderly in general in the province of Bali covering rural and urban areas. This research is important to do because based on the aforementioned models, it will be known the factors that need attention and need to be followed up in order to improve the welfare policy for the elderly.
The research was conducted in the urban area of Bali Province, covering 8 districts and 1 municipality. The sample used was 470 elderly. The research variables used were: the socio-economic characteristics of the elderly, the health status of the elderly, social security status, and employment status. The statistical analysis used is descriptive analysis, Chi-Square, and logistic regression.
The results showed that the socio-economic background of the elderly (63.6 percent) was still working with an average working hour of 19 hours a week. Most of the elderly (68.7 percent) do not have old age benefits and most of the elderly (69.8 percent) perceive themselves to have a healthy status. The independent variables which significantly affect the working status of the elderly in urban areas are age, presence / absence of social security, income and total family income. The variables that significantly affect the social security status of urban elderly are the level of education, marital status, health status, income, and satisfaction with the economic condition of the family. There are two variables that affect the health status of the elderly in urban Bali Province, namely age and gender.
