Abstrak

Fullfil of food needed, including animal protein sources continues to be a challenge for every region in Indonesia, even in the world. This is due to the rapid rate of population growth and the increasing economic conditions of the people which have an impact on increasing demand for animal protein. The island of Bali is known for having a wide range of specialty culinary based on pork, one of which is pork roll which is not only used as a means of ceremonies, but is now also used as a consumption product for local people and tourists. Bali Pigs, one of the germplasm owned by the Province of Bali, is a type of fat pig that has the potential to be used as a pork roll. The high demand for rolling pigs, is a golden opportunity that needs to be considered by farmers. Nusa Penida has the largest number of Bali pigs in Bali, where the majority of the population owns pigs which are operated as a side business. Based on the research carried out, the current profile of Bali pig farming in Nusa Penida is still traditional without applying good maintenance management. Based on the location quotient analysis that has been done, it was found that: 1) Nusa Penida's LQ value of 1,299, which means that Nusa Penida is a potential area in the development of a Bali pig farm; 2) The potential of local feed ingredients originating from the waste of the coconut oil processing industry has been able to meet the needs of feed for pigs that are kept; and 3) All breeders of research respondents do not have a good understanding of the preservation of the germplasm of Bali pigs. Therefore, it is necessary to have: 1) good attention from the Government in the effort to preserve and develop Bali's pig farms in Nusa Penida; 2) extension of Bali pig farms in order to increase public knowledge in Bali pig conservation; and 3) It is necessary to formulate a concept of agribusiness system of Bali pig farming integrated with agriculture, agroindustry, and tourism that develops in the Nusa Penida District
