Abstrak
Biofilter is a reactor developed with the principle of microbes growing and developing on a filter media and forming a biofilm (attached growth) layer (Slamet and Masduqi, 2000). The development of this concept is done by soaking the filter media in water continuously.
Biofilter has been widely applied in recent years as a source control technique for managing water biologically. Wastewater treatment by biofilter process is carried out by flowing wastewater into biological reactors in which it has been filled with a buffer media that is useful as a microorganism breeding. This research is an experimental study with the aim of knowing the effectiveness of Biofilter media in the form of Fibers and Volcanic Stones, by giving a certain treatment to research subjects who will later be observed and measured an impact. This research is a causal study in which the results of the study are proven through a comparison of the experimental group with the control group or the condition of the subject after and before being given treatment.
The target of the research output is to obtain the effectiveness value of Fibers with Lava Stone as a Biofilter media, so that later it can be applied to improve the effectiveness of domestic wastewater treatment at tourism facilities (hotels) in Bali. Another outcome target is Scientific Publication in the Accredited National Journal.
