The Use of Compliment and Compliment Response in Japanese Drama

Compliment is one of the strategies that can be used as a lubricant for communication. The use of compliment found in the interaction of Japanese society. One of them is in interaction and communication within Japanese companies. This research aims to determine and identify the form and function of compliment and compliment responses. This study also examined the strategies used by the characters in the Japanese drama. This research will use theories relating to compliment or compliment responses by Manes and Wolfson (1981) about the topic and form of compliment and Herbert (1990) regarding the classification of compliment responses.
