Elections or post-conflict local elections in
Indonesia always leave interesting things that are never quiet from the
discussion in the study of political science. This happens because the
elections or local elections held since the revolving reforms have become an
arena for the growth of new political actors, both as institutions, groups, or
individuals who happen to have the same desire to control political
institutions such as; political parties, parliaments, and regional heads. One
such practice is happening in the province of Bali. Initiated by the interests
to get positions or important positions in these institutions, until then felt
the pleasure of seizing and obtaining these sources of power a number of
politicians in Bali used the adat / banjar village as a political tool to pursue
power. Three major mass forces in Bali, the three contested political
contestants in elections and elections and elections. The three of them, such
as Dadia, adat, ormas, were used as a force for mass mobilization in Bali. It
can be explained that currently in Bali there has been an alliance between
politicians and social social institutions (dadia, adat / banjar, and subak).
The strength of this symbiotic mutualism can be traced as the strengthening of
the role of community institutions such as the traditional banjar, subak, and
dadia in the reform era. That is what a number of politicians did during the
election or post-conflict local election in Bali. This research was carried out
departing from the basic question of how do politicians make adat an arena of
new contestation in elections and post-conflict local elections in the province
of Bali? This research method uses qualitative research with case studies in
several traditional villages in the Badung and Denpasar areas. Data collection
is done by interview, observation, and documentation.
