CONTEMPORARY ART SPACE DI TABANAN, BALI-Suatu Studi Mengenai Konsep Kontemporer pada Tampilan Fasad Galeri

ABSTRACT Contemporary Art Space is a venue for exhibiting and performing contemporary art, especially in Tabanan. The Contem- porary Art Space consist of a gallery and an amphitheatre that will accommodate the focus of contemporary art that is growing such as painting, installation art, music and theater. The purpose of the existence of this facility is to elevate the existence of contemporary art to the community, particularly to the people in Tabanan. In order to achieve that goal, one of the attemps is to codify the concept of the appearance of the facade in the gallery that represents contemporary terms. This is necessary because the facade is one of the important things in flourishing the attention of visitors and gallery as a major function in this facility. There are several processes to be adequate to show contemporary impression on the fa- cade of the gallery, such as to understand the contemporary principle, then apply it to the design of the site and the de- sign of the building to create the appearance of the gallery facade in accordance with the principle. Keywords: Contemporary, Art, Space, Gallery, Facade ABSTRAK Ruang Seni Kontemporer merupakan wadah untuk memamerkan dan mempertunjukan seni kontemporer khusunya di Tabanan. Ruang Seni Kontemporer ini di dalamnya terdapat galeri dan amfiteater yang akan mewadahi fokus seni kontemporer yang sedang berkembang seperti seni lukis, seni instalasi, seni musik dan seni teater. Tujuan dari adanya fasilitas ini adalah untuk mengangkat eksistensi seni kontemporer kepada masyarakat khususnya masyarakat di Tabanan. Agar tujuan tersebut tercapai, maka salah satu upaya yaitu dengan merumuskan konsep tampilan fasad pada galeri yang merepresentasikan istilah kontemporer. Hal ini perlu dilakukan karena fasad merupakan salah satu hal yang penting dalam menumbuhkan perhatian pengunjung dan galeri merupakan fungsi utama pada fasilitas ini. Terdapat beberapa proses untuk dapat menampilkan kesan kontemporer pada fasad galeri antara lain mengerti prinsip kontemporer terlebih dahulu, kemudian menerapkannya pada perancangan tapak dan perancangan bangunan hingga tercipta tampilan fasad galeri yang sesuai dengan prinsip tersebut.
