Form and construction system of Balinese Indigenous House, Case Study Tigawasa Village, Buleleng Regency- Bali

Abstrak

Balinese indigenous houses are one of the most valuable cultural heritage in Bali. These houses have unique character which differed them from the traditional houses of Balinese Majapahit era’s form and style. The form and construction system of the houses are unique and applied simple construction system, as well as spatial arrangement and settlement pattern. This paper focusing on indigenous house of Tigawasa village in Buleleng which has a strong character and unique style, it’s also have three different type of houses. This paper unveil the detail of form and construction system of Tigawasa as recently there is no research focusing of this topic in Tigawasa Indigenous houses. Qualitative analysis include site observation survey and interview was applied. The result showed that Tigawasa houses has three different type of house with unique house settlement. The construction system, applied simple structure system using local material and local technique.
