Abstrak

The aim of the study was to evaluate glutathione on spermatogenesis of the overtraining mice. This study was experimentally and randomly pretest-posttest with control group design. The sample of this study was strain Balb-C adult male mice with the following criteria: body weight between 20-25 grams, age 2-3 months, and healthy. All 48 mice were divided randomly into two groups, 24 mice were used as control group and the other 24 were used as treatment group (Po = physical overtraining group with aqua pro-injection given intraperitoneal, and P1 = physical overtraining group with glutathione 6 Mmol/kg BW/day, intra-peritoneal). Prior to the treatment, 12 mice were taken from each group for the pre-test, by preparing microscopic preparation testicle and histological examination was performed to the total spermathogenic cells. The rests of the mice were used as for post-test examination after 35 days treatment. The result showed that a significantly (P<0,05) sharp decrease of total spermatogenic cells (spermatogonium A cell, spermatocyt pakhiten cell, spermatid 7 cell dan spermatid 16 cell ) following overtraining. The total spermatogenic cell increase after the glutathione treatment. It can be concluded that the glutathione treatment increases the amount of spermatogenic cells on mice having physical overtraining. Key Words : Physical overtraining, glutathione, spermatogenesis
