Abstrak

The objective of this study was to design irrigation system based on soil electrical conductivity, which enabled to irrigate the water in the right time and right quantity. The first step of the study was to design an irrigation control using ATMEGA 8538 and LMB162A 2x16 characters Liquid Crystal Display. The second step was to create a software of the microcontroller using Bascom AVR. The final step was to determine the setting point based on field capacity and temporary plant wilting point. For simulation purposes, Tosakan green mustard was irrigated using this control. Results showed the soil moisture sensor, creating from PCB, was able to convert impedance into frequency. The measured frequency itself depended on soil moisture content. In addition, the automatic irrigation control started to irrigate when the average of the soil moisture was 10-15% and stopped when soil moisture content reached the field capacity of 59-60%.
