Study Consentration of Soft Drink to Maintain the Freshness of Cut Roses Flower in Room Temperature

Abstrak

The purpose of this research is to know the freshness of the roses at roomtemperature. The treatment of this research is to use solution of soft drinks (brand sprite) with concentration 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50%. Observation is done every two days for 7 days. The parameters observed were subjective assessments of the wilted level of rose cut flower petals and discoloration of rose petals during storage at roomtemperature. The results showed that treatment with a concentration of soft drinks 30% (S3) can provide the best assessment of the roses. The conclusion of this study that the concentration of 30% soft drinks added to a liter of solution can maintain the freshness of cut flowers for 4 days storage roomtemperature (27+2oC).
