Abstrak

Abstract Implementation of a green economy in the tourism sector through coral reef ecotourism in Pemuteran Bali has been recognized as a successful program at the local, regional, and international level. This paper aims to discuss about the success of this program mainly related to the best practice and the implementation model of a green economy on ecotourism coral reefs that can be used as a model for other regions. The implementation processes are executed through three stages mainly the resistance, adaptation, and transformation stage. While, the best practices of the green economy through coral reef ecotourism are applied through the seven principles of green economy with locality adjustment. It is a priority to be addressed to change their mindset of local people that saving the environment can be in line with the creation of new sources of family income. This effort involves all components of society to run the program. The result, the coral reef restoration and conservation also the ecotourism program are supported by the local community, have participation of all parties, give the economic benefits, change local people mindset to be an environmental savior, involve in the preservation of the environment, and the rapid change in poverty alleviation. In fact, the program is an implementation of the green economy principles in coral reef ecotourism. Keywords: Ecotourism, Coral reef, Green Economy, Pemuteran
