Abstrak
Dendrobium sp. is the most popular orchids for potted plants and cut flowers. Demand for domestic market is high, so orchid is still imported from neighboring countries. An effort to meet orchid demand for domestic and foreign market is by vegetative propagation using mature orchids stem. This study aimed to determine the effect of stem size and concentration of Zeatin on vegetative growth of Dendrobium sonia. Research was conducted November 2015 - March 2016 in shade house Puri Chandra Asri, Batubulan, Gianyar - Bali. The study employed Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors, i.e. Zeatin with three concentrations (0 mg/L, 0.1 mg/L and 0.2 mg/L) and stem size of 0-10 cm, 10-20 cm and 20-30 cm. There are 9 treatment combinations and 7 replicates each treatment combination. Quantitative data were number of roots, root length, number of shoots, shoot length and number of leaves at 16 MST. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test followed by Duncan's multiple range test (DMRT) at 5% level. The best treatment combination for root lengthand number of leaves was Z2B2 (Zeatin 0.1 mg/L + stem 10-20 cm), while the best number of roots, shoots and shoot length was on treatment Z2B3 (Zeatin 0.1 mg/L + stem 20-30 cm).
