Abstrak

Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) refers to a collection of clinical symptoms which broadly grouped into obstruction (voiding symptoms), irritation (storage symptoms) and post voiding symptoms (post micturition dribbling). The global LUTS incidence rate increased from 45.2% in 2008 to 45.8% in 2018. Up to now, there is no epidemiological research in population about the correlation between risk factors and LUTS reported in Bali. This study’s purpose is to describe the incidence rate and the correlation between LUTS with age, diabetes mellitus and hypertension. This cross-sectional analytic research involved 100 male respondents aged above 40 years old at Menanga Village, Rendang Sub-District, Karangasem District, Bali. The International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) questionnaire was used to collect the data of LUTS. Demographic data of age was taken from national ID card. Measurement of the blood pressure was used to determine hypertension, and blood glucose level measurement was used to determine diabetes. The average age of the respondents was 60.1±11.4 years with 63% experienced LUTS. The prevalence ratio (PR) for age, diabetes, and hypertension were 1.7 (p=0.001), 1.1 (p=0.742), and 1.1 (p=0.447), respectively. We concluded that age is a risk factor that associated to LUTS.
