Abstrak

Adolescents are de ned as children who have age of 10 to 18 years. There are hormonal, physical, psychological and social changes in adolescent. Adolescents need sleep 8 to 10 hours each day. Many adolescents does not have good quality of sleep with the incidence of insomnia almost 15% of the population, with di culty initiating sleep, maintaining sleep, waking up too early and poor sleep quality. The incidence of chronic primary insomnia in adolescent impact on poor sleeps quality which makes learning concentration decrease. This research aims determine the proportions and characteristics of adolescents with chronic primary insomnia in high school in Denpasar. This study is a cross-sectional descriptive study, randomized sampling technique. Diagnosis of chronic primary insomnia use DSM IV criteria. Samples with medical disorders, psychiatric, neurological disorders were excluded. 126 samples collected and 18 samples were excluded because of medical illness. 46.3% of the sample experienced chronic primary insomnia. Sample with chronic primary insomnia, 42% male and 58% female. Most of the samples had normal body mass index. In the group with chronic primary insomnia obtained 66% of regular exercise, while those without insomnia, percentage obtained a larger exercise routine that is 86.2%. Based on severity of insomnia, adolescents with chronic primary insomnia have varying severity. The proportion of chronic primary insomnia in adolescents at high school in Denpasar was 46.3%, with the proportion of men and women were balanced. Sports physical activity was lower in adolescents with insomnia. Insomnia severity obtained 22% in adolescents with chronic primary insomnia.
