Abstrak
The term bacterial interference shows the competition between species of bacteria in the process of colonization on a surface. Bacteria develop specific mechanisms to influence the ability of other bacteria to colonize and infect host. This ability is useful for the defense of its host (Falagas, 2008). Nobel Laureate Laura Elie Metchnikoff formulated the Probiotic concept nearly 100 years ago, publishing the idea of "Lactic bacilli" consumption improves one's health by maximizing microbiota health promotion activity and minimizing the potential harmful effects of the microbiota (Guerner, 2011). Lactobacillus reuteri has recently been recognized having an effective ability as a probiotic. Lactobacillus reuteri is the only lactobacillus species reported to inhabit the gastrointestinal tract of all vertebrates, mammals from birds to humans and is trusted to have a symbiotic relationship. Lactobacillus reuteri is known as Universal entero-Lactobacillus because it can be found in almost all intestinal organisms (Jensen, 2014).
