Abstrak
Abstract This study has the objective to identify and describe the categories of cultural vocabulary as well as the strategies for translating those vocabulary into Indonesian found in a Doraemon movie subtitle. In addition, this study also aims to identify and describe the conditions of equivalent skewing found in this movie. The data used in this study is a Doraemon movie entitled Stand by Me Doraemon. The findings indicate that there are three categories in the cultural vocabulary found in this movie with a total of 27 data, namely: (1) Ecology Category, (2) Cultural Material Category, and (3) Organizations, Customs, Activities, Procedures, Concepts Category. Translation strategies adopted are translation using cultural substitution, translation using more general words, translation using the word with more expressive meaning, translation using loan word, and translation using paraphrasing. While the condition of equivalent skewing found is there are 14 sentences that can be considered having a skewing equivalence when viewed from the meaning components analysis of the source text meaning and their counterparts in the target text. Judging from the quantity of the total sentences and compared to those skewing sentences, this condition can be consider not so many. Therefore, it can be concluded that the translation provided in this movie is acceptable.
