MODEL KESALAHAN PENGGUNAAN BAHASA INGGRIS PADA PAPAN INFORMASI PUBLIK

This article discusses the misuse of English on public information boards. Data were taken randomly from public information boards installed in Badung and Denpasar, Bali. The public information boards are selected in two languages, Indonesian and English. The method used is simak method equipped with recording techniques, detailed reading and sorting data to obtain adequate data. Furthermore, qualitative descriptive method is applied with analytical techniques based on British grammatical and sociolinguistic theory. The conclusions obtained still have errors in the use of English on public information boards. The error is in the grammar error model, word selection, and writing in English.
