Abstrak
Bali is one of island which has a lot of cultural diversity and local knowledge possessed. One of forest in Bali is bamboo forest located at Penglipuran village, Bangli. This study aims to reveal the wisdom of local communities in conserving Penglipuran village of bamboo forest. The research chose two issues, how the meaning of preservation of bamboo forest in Panglipuran village is and how are the forms of local wisdom in preserving Penglipuran bambooforest. The Panglipuran people have own point of view or idea to preserve the bamboo forest. They comply with the village awig awig (rules) indigenous village which implicitly contains a prohibition on indiscriminate cutting down bamboo trees. This study also used interpretive theory of Clifford Geertz in expressing his thoughts regarding the people ofPenglipuran in bamboo forest conservation. The method is used the ethnographic research methods qualitative research by conducting observation, library study and interviews in detail to Panglipuran people.
