Incorporating the Concept of Sustainable Tourism into Legislations and Regulations in Indonesia

ABSTRACT The concept of sustainable tourism has been globally accepted and endorsed by lnternational society. ln order to ensure its implementaion in practice, States over the world are working to transform such concept into its national laws. This article is aimed at analyzing both the relevance and the means of incorporating the concept of sustainable tourism into the legislations and regulations, with the case study of lndonesja. lt is a legal writing that analyzes some legal instruments, especially lndonesian national laws and regulations besides some relevant international documents, This article concludes that the case of lndonesia may be used as a lesson learned of how such concept has been further transformed to many legislations and regulations on tourism at the national, provincial, and regency/municipality levels in various ways, This writing also provides a recommendation to the socio legal researchers to sludy the effectiveness of legislations and regulations in concern.
