Early Detection and Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder

This book is about how-to early detection or screening autism spectrum disorder. Autism spectrum disorder is one of developmental disorder consist of social communication disorder and social interaction, restrictive and repetitive behavior. The etiology of autism spectrum disorder is unknown. Many factors are suspected as the etiology of autism spectrum disorders, that is the interrelated between genetic and environment factors. The most recent autism spectrum disorder screening instrument is the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers-Revised (M-CHAT-R) and Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers-Revised/Follow-Up (M-CHAT-R/F). This instrument has been translated into Indonesian version, can be used start from 18 months old. The diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder based on Diagnostic Manual of Mental Disorder-5 (DSM-5) criteria. This book also describes management of autism spectrum disorder based on evidence. Early detection of autism spectrum disorder is important, so that diagnosis can be made as early as possible, early intervention can be done immediately, the child’s developmental outcomes can be better.
