Study of Taro Cow as an Icon of Gianyar Regency

White cows by the Balinese Hindu community are called oxen. White cows can be found in several areas in Bali, one of which is in the village of Taro. The highest number of white cows is found in Taro village, Tegalalang sub-district, Gianyar regency as many as 42 cows in 2015. Scientific studies show that the white ox is the result of a mutation of the standard color gene in Bali cattle. Given the Balinese cattle have been recognized as one of the world's cattle nation which is a native Indonesian cattle. Therefore the action on conservation of the white Taro bull is an appropriate action, on the one hand for the sake of the need for religious ceremonies on the other hand to maintain the purity of the Bali Cow which has received worldwide recognition.
