The Sound of the Sea

The sound of the Ocean presents the character of Lyra. For 27 years she had longed to meet 

Arakian, her father, a lamafa (whale spearman). The story was written in the setting of the 

Lamalera worldview on Lembata Flores. This novel deals with a very fundamental problem 

when viewed from a socio-cultural and religiosity perspective. There are many facts and 

understandings about the traditions, customs and culture of Lamalera.
